Kakrebihar

Kakrebihar is an archaeological site in a protected forest just south of Birendranagar. The ruins of a large stone temple, believed to date from the Khasa Malla period, are carved with images of the Buddha, bodhisattvas and Hindu deities, showing the mix of traditions in the medieval Karnali.
The Department of Archaeology has been reconstructing the main temple. The forest walk to the site is pleasant, and it is easily combined with a visit to Bulbule Lake.
What to see and do
See the carved stone fragments — Buddha images, deities, lotus motifs — and the partly reconstructed temple, and walk the forest trails around the site, which is also a protected forest with birds and monkeys.
