Namche Bazaar
In Nepali: नाम्चे बजार

Namche grew from a small trading village into the hub of the Everest region. Its Saturday market still draws traders who carry goods up from the lowlands, and the Sherpa Culture Museum and Sagarmatha National Park visitor centre on the ridge above explain the people and the mountains.
Trekkers usually spend two nights here to acclimatise, walking up to the Everest View Hotel, Khumjung or Khunde for a first sight of Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam.
What to see and do
Climb to the Sagarmatha National Park visitor centre and the Sherpa Culture Museum on the ridge above town for the first view of Everest and a good introduction to Sherpa life. The Saturday market near the entrance to town is lively, with traders from the lowlands and Tibet. Bakeries and cafés serve apple pie and coffee to trekkers, and gear shops sell and rent everything you might have forgotten.
Good acclimatisation hikes include the Everest View Hotel (about 3,880 m), Khumjung and Khunde villages, and the walk to Thame along the old trade route.
Good to know
Namche has ATMs, pharmacies, a health post and internet, but they can be unreliable — carry cash. The climb up from the Dudh Koshi bridges is long and steep; take it slowly. Nights are cold in winter; many lodges have heated dining rooms.
