Saipal (7,031 m) is an isolated massif on the border of Bajhang and Humla, and the dominant peak in the views from Khaptad, Badimalika and much of the far west. It was first climbed by a Japanese expedition in 1963.
Treks to Saipal base camp from Chainpur through the upper Seti valley are among the most remote in Nepal, requiring full camping support and a restricted-area permit for parts of the route.
Where to see it
Saipal is the dominant peak from Khaptad's meadows, from Badimalika and from ridges above Chainpur in Bajhang. Its north side faces Humla's valleys.
Good to know
Base camp treks go through remote villages; there are no lodges and you must camp. Travel with an experienced agency.
