Siraichuli
In Nepali: सिराइचुली
Siraichuli (about 1,945 m) rises in the Mahabharat hills in the north of Chitwan district. The surrounding villages are home to the Chepang, one of Nepal's most marginalised indigenous groups, who traditionally lived by foraging and shifting cultivation.
The Chepang Hill Trail and community homestays let visitors walk through their villages, and the summit gives a remarkable view from the plains to Manaslu and Annapurna. Go with a local guide.
What to see and do
Walk through Chepang villages, learn about their foraging traditions and crops like chiuri (butter tree), and climb to the summit for sunrise views. The Chepang Hill Trail links several villages over a few days.
Good to know
Facilities are basic homestays. Your visit directly supports one of Nepal's poorest communities; buy local products such as chiuri honey.
