Upardang Gadhi
In Nepali: उपरदाङगढी

Upardang Gadhi stands on the Mahabharat ridge north of Bharatpur, and was built in the 18th century as a military post guarding the route between the hills and the Chitwan valley. Stone walls, gateways and a temple remain.
From the top you look down over the flat green expanse of Chitwan to the south and across to Siraichuli and the Himalaya to the north. It is a rewarding half-day trip from Bharatpur, far from the safari crowds.
What to see and do
Explore the fort walls and gateways, visit the temple, and enjoy the wide view over the Chitwan valley. The road up passes Chepang villages and forests.
Good to know
The road is steep and rough in places; a jeep is best. Carry water and snacks.
